A.        RECOGNITION/PROCLAMATION/PRESENTATION:

 

1.       Proclaim July 26, 2011 to be the City of Lawrence, Kansas Celebration of the 21st Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

 

 

B.        CONSENT AGENDA:

 

NOTE:  All matters listed below on the Consent Agenda are considered under one motion and will be enacted by one motion.  There will be no separate discussion on those items.  If discussion is desired, that item will be removed from the Consent Agenda and will be considered separately.

 

1.       Receive minutes from various boards and commissions:

 

Community Commission on Homelessness meeting of 06/14/11

Sustainability Advisory Board meeting on 05/11/11

 

2.       Approve all claims.  The list of approved claims will be posted to the agenda the day after the City Commission meeting.

 

3.       Approve licenses as recommended by the City Clerk’s Office.    

 

4.       Approve appointments as recommended by the Mayor. 

 

5.       Bid and purchase items:

 

a)       Approve the sale of surplus equipment on Gov Deals.   Staff Memo

 

b)       Approve the renewal of the City’s annual agreement for Microsoft software maintenance for the period of July 1, 2011 – June 30, 2012 to Software House International for $69,049.   Staff Memo

 

c)       Approve the purchase of a mower from Professional Turf Products for $18,795.03 from the National IPA cooperative purchasing contract agreement.   Bid Memo

 

6.       Adopt on first reading, Ordinance No. 8649, adopting the 2011 Standard Traffic Ordinance, Edition 2011.   Staff Memo & Attachments

 

7.       Adopt on second and final reading, Ordinance No. 8646, allowing the possession and consumption of alcohol on the 100 block of E. 8th Street from 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2011, to 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2011 for the Sandbar Birthday Party.

 

8.       Adopt joint City Resolution No. 6928/County Resolution No. ____, establishing the Retiree Attraction Task Force.

 

9.       Authorize the City Manager to execute an addendum to the July 7, 2010 Professional Services Agreement between PB Americas, Inc., and the City of Lawrence to assist the Lawrence-Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Organization in its future transportation planning, increasing the budget under that agreement from $20,000 to $47,000 and extending the agreement one year through December 31, 2012. The additional funding comes from a Consolidated Planning Grant and there are no additional city funds in this increase.   Staff Memo & Attachments

 

10.     Approve a Temporary Use of Public Right-of-Way Permit for the Kansas State Fiddling and Picking Championship for the closure of Massachusetts Street between North Park Street and South Park Street on Sunday, August 28, 2011, from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.   Staff Memo

 

11.     Receive racial profiling report for the period of January 1, 2011 – June 30, 2011.   Report
