RE:

Annexation of remaining land of Pump Station #48

On May 21st, 2007 the Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission recommended approval of an annexation request for approximately 40 acres located north of Folks Road extended and south of Interstate 70.  This is the remainder of the City-owned land that is being utilized for the Pump Station #48 facility.

This annexation proposal was originally presented to the Planning Commission as an island annexation, and is reflected as such on the accompanying PC staff report.  At that time there was a sliver of property, now known as 3868 Hill Song Circle, still within unincorporated Douglas County between the PS 48 site and the corporate limits of Lawrence.  3868 Hill Song Circle has since been acquired by the City and was annexed in an action by the City Commission on January 22, 2008.

Therefore, this annexation request is for property that is contiguous to the City limits of Lawrence and no longer requires action by the Board of County Commissioners.
