Ordinance No. 8107 – 20mph Speed Limit on 15th Street at Engel Road

Background:
On April 24, 2007, the City Commission concurred with the recommendation of the Traffic Safety Commission to change the School Crossing on 15th Street at Engel Road to a Pedestrian Crossing and make appropriate signing changes.
The City Code provides for a 20mph reduced speed limit at all officially designated school crossings; however, this does not apply to pedestrian crossings.
Each approach to the crossing on 15th Street is provided with a flashing beacon and sign stating SPEED LIMIT 20 WHEN FLASHING. In order to be enforced, this 20mph speed limit must be listed in the city code.
Action Request:
Adopt Ordinance No. 8107 on first reading.
