Executive Summary: |
On March 7, 2017, the City Commission adopted a strategic plan which included seven (7) Critical Success Factors and eight (8) priority initiatives. One of those priority initiatives was to develop a plan to implement priority-based budgeting and enhance communication in the annual budget process.
On August 14, 2018 the City Commission received a presentation by Chris Fabian, Founder of the Center for Priority Based Budgeting and Resource Exploration, LLC, who outlined how other communities use priority-based budgeting.
On October 2, 2018 the City Commission approved a three-year agreement with Resource Exploration, LLC (ResourceX). They have assisted staff with the implementation of priority-based budgeting through regular meetings and on-site staff trainings.
On March 19, 2019 staff presented the priority-based budgeting open data site so that the Commission and the public had time to interact with the data. The purpose of the April 9, 2019 meeting is to present the results and receive direction. |
