Approve the purchase of fitness/cardio equipment in the amount of $124,983.25, replacing units at all City recreation centers. This item was approved on the 2019 CIP list (Project No. PR1919CIP). |
Executive Summary: |
Per the 2019 CIP, replacement of fitness/cardio equipment was approved for City recreation centers. Many units need replacement due to normal wear and tear, hours of use and/or other factors leading to equipment breakdown and/or failure, which takes equipment offline until repairs can be made. While the fleet of new equipment will be replacing some of the cardio/fitness equipment at all recreation centers, it will not be replacing all units and will be added to the maintenance/replacement schedule for the department.
This purchase is being made using the SourceWell joint purchasing contract (Award Contract No. 120215-LFF). Please note, the National Joint Powers Alliance, a joint purchasing organization frequently utilized by the City, recently changed its name to SourceWell. Units being purchased, while new, are considered closeout models, which brings the cost down considerably. Pricing represents a 15-26 percent savings per unit compared to the price of 2019 models. The breakdown of equipment being purchased for each recreation center follows:
