Executive Summary: |
At the November 6, 2017 Transportation Commission Meeting, the board considered a request to install traffic calming devices on Kensington Road between 27th Street and 28th Street. There was also a request to replace the yield sign at 28th Street and Kensington Road with a stop sign.
Traffic data was obtained by city staff. City staff found the 85th percentile traffic speeds are six (6) mph over the speed limit of 30 mph on Kensington Road. This is greater than five (5) mph over the posted speed limit, which meets criteria for installing traffic calming devices. City staff recommended approval of the traffic calming request. Traffic volumes and crash data obtained did not meet criteria for installing a stop sign at the intersection of Kensington Road and 28th Street. City staff recommended denial of the stop sign request.
The Transportation Commission voted (11-0) to recommend approval of traffic calming on Kensington Road between 27th Street and 28th Street and deny the request for installation of a stop sign at the 28th Street and Kensington Road intersection. |
