Award Bid No. 1741 to Vito’s Plumbing, Inc. and authorize the City Manager to execute the construction contract for hourly rate and unit priced services related to on-call Emergency City Sanitary Sewer Main Repairs.

 

Executive Summary:

The City of Lawrence Utilities Department requested bids for hourly rate and unit priced contractual services related to on-call Emergency City Sanitary Sewer Main Repairs. The successful bidder will be hired as needed to perform emergency sanitary sewer repairs as issues are identified by Utilities Department Staff. The contract will be for one-year starting on August 1, 2017 with renewal options up to four additional years if the quality of work meets expectations and the renewal is mutually agreed upon.

 

On June 7, 2017, the bid documents for B1741 Emergency City Sanitary Sewer Main Repairs were advertised with a bid opening of June 27, 2017. Bids for this program were received from Vito’s Plumbing, Inc. and McElroy’s, Inc. The bid tabulation is attached.

 

Utilities Department Staff has reviewed the bids, qualifications, and current project commitments of the low bidder, Vito’s Plumbing Inc. Staff recommends awarding the bid to Vito’s Plumbing, Inc.

Fiscal Impact (Amount/Source):

The estimated contracted services will range between $300,000 and $500,000 annually for emergency sanitary sewer repairs depending on the number of issues identified and the repair cost for each individual repair. Funds for this work are included in both the Utilities Department Operations and Maintenance Budget and the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) as part of the 2017 Rapid I/I Reduction Program (CIP #UT1795).
