Authorize the Mayor to award bid to Wildcat Concrete Services in the amount of $108,770 for PW1626 K-10 Hwy & Wakarusa Drive, Traffic Signal Improvements; Bid No. B1703. |

Executive Summary: |
In 2016 KDOT recommended an upgrade to the traffic signal at K-10 & 27th St./Wakarusa Dr. to accommodate the increase in traffic with completion of the South Lawrence Trafficway. The project includes new signals and mast arms for K-10 traffic to provide signal heads for all lanes including phasing for protected left turns. Signal timing will be developed to provide an increase in operational improvement at the intersection.
KDOT and the City entered into an agreement for the city to participate in 100% of the design costs ($9,750) and KDOT will participate in 100% of construction costs, to be reimbursed at the conclusion of the project. The city bid the project to accelerate the project schedule and enable the construction to be complete by Summer 2017. |

The fiscal impact to the City is $9,750 for engineering design. This cost was paid out of the 2016 engineering division budget. Pursuant to the City-State agreement KDOT will reimburse the city for 100% of the construction costs ($108,770) at completion of the project. |
