Approve license agreement with Renewable Power Producers for the installation of a gas line in property/right-of-way owned by the City of Lawrence. |

Executive Summary: |
Hamm’s Landfill has partnered with Renewable Power Producers (RPP) to capture and transport the gas that is generated at the landfill as waste deteriorates. RPP will install the collection system and the infrastructure to transport the gas to a gas supplier and distributer (Southern Star).
This license allows RPP to install, maintain and operate facilities designed to transport landfill gas within the City right-of-way and across the Mudcreek Levee (see map attachment).
The initial term of the agreement is 10 years with four (4) automatic renewals of 5 years each. Compensation includes $13,000 for year 1, $1000 for the next 15 years and $2000 for years 16-30.
The total amount of compensation will be $58,000. RPP will receive a permit from the Corp of Engineers. Should the City need use of the right-of-way, RPP will relocate or adjust their facilities at their cost. Additionally RPP will hold the City harmless for any liability or environmental issues. |
