30.7 Tons of Electronics Recycled and 15.65 Tons of Documents for Shred Collected at Spring Event

The City’s Solid Waste Division hosted a Spring Electronic Recycling and Document Shred Event on Saturday, March 19th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Free State High School parking lot. During the 4-hour event, a total of 1,133 vehicles dropped off 61,452 pounds (30.7 tons) of electronic equipment and 31,300 pounds (15.65 tons) of confidential documents. The electronic recycling service was provided by Midwest Recycling Center (MRC) and the secure document shredding service was provided by Jayhawk File Express. 1,241 Tons of Compost and Woodchips Distributed During Spring Sale Event

The City’s Solid Waste Division sold 1,523 cubic yards (838 tons) of compost and 1,401 cubic yards (403 tons) of woodchips during the Spring Compost and Woodchip Sale Event on March 24th through 26th. A total of 1,031 vehicles participated during the 3-day sale and $10,835 was generated during the sale. Compost and woodchips were sold for $10 per bucket load which is approximately 2 cubic yards. 2015 Residential Lot Inventory

This report is an update on the status of available lots for new, single-family, residential construction as of December 31, 2015. Information is provided on supply, market demand, and inventory of residential lots.  Analysis shows housing demand increased sharply in 2015, with the highest number of single family building permits being pulled per year since before the recession. Given 2015 market demand, single family lot inventory was reduced by 53% as compared to the previous year.
