Public Works Holds Stakeholder Meeting

Public Works held its 6^th annual stakeholder meeting with contractors, vendors and consultants on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Indoor Aquatics Center.  Please see the attached report for more information.

Public Works Holds Project Open House

Public Works held an open house to discuss 2014 construction projects on February 27, 2014.  The open house was well attended with the majority of questions pertaining to the 6th & Iowa and Wakarusa Drive projects. Please see the attached report for more information.

February Sales Tax Distribution

The City of Lawrence has recently received its February sales tax distribution.  The distribution is the result of retail sales from mid-December to mid-January.  The distribution of $3,045,383 is $140,000 more than the prior year distribution for the same month. Please see the attached memo for more information.   

Fire Medical Summary of Structure Fires

The department has prepared a summary of fires for the years 2012 and 2013 that includes residential structure fires (not including hotels/motels), owner v. renter, value v. damage, personal injury and origin and cause.

2013 Energy Use Recap

The City utilizes EnergyCAP to track usage and cost of our major utilities and fuel sources: electricity, natural gas, diesel fuel, unleaded gasoline, and water. Please see the attached report for information on usage and cost in 2013.

Impact of Westar Rate Increases for 2014

As discussed in the attached memo, anticipated rate increases could result in a total increased electricity cost for 2014 of approximately $200,000 if the City’s 2014 usage stays consistent with 2013 usage.
