Reminder to update Statements of Substantial Interests

City Commissioners are reminded every spring to update their Statement of Substantial Interests form if there have been any changes in their substantial interests since the last form was filed. Updated forms should be turned in to the City Clerk between April 15 and April 30.

 

City receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

Staff recently received notice that the city has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), for the city’s 2013 budget document. The city’s budget document must be found proficient in fourteen subcategories rating the effectiveness of the budget as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications device. The city has received the award every year since 2003.  

 

Fire Medical Department reaccredited

The Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Department was recently awarded Reaccredited Agency Status by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) at the Center for Public Safety Excellence. The department is one of only 167 agencies worldwide to obtain CFAI Accredited Status. The CFAI process provides an agency with an improvement model to self-assess their service delivery and performance, and then be assessed by a team of peer members from other agencies. Fire Medical Department Annual Report

The Fire Medical Department recently released its 2012 Annual Report, detailing statistics, notable incidents, educational programs, prevention efforts, and staff achievements from 2012. The report is also available, with past years’ reports, at http://www.lawrenceks.org/fire_medical/annual_reports.
