RE: |
Closure of 100 block of E 8th on 09/17/11 for Halfway to St Patrick’s Day fundraiser
|
The Sandbar (17 E 8th St) has requested permission to close the 100 block of E 8th Street from 1:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011, for the Halfway to St Patrick’s Day fundraiser. The event would feature live music, food vendor(s), and a beer garden area. The attached permit application includes statements of support from adjacent businesses. The city would provide meter bags and barricades to close the street.
Possession and consumption of alcohol on the right-of-way is generally prohibited, unless the City Commission adopts an ordinance exempting an area from that prohibition. The attached Ordinance No. 8657 would temporarily allow the possession and consumption of alcohol on the 100 block of E 8th Street during this event.
ACTION: Approve a Temporary Use of Public Right-of-Way Permit allowing the closure of the 100 block of E 8th Street from 1:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011, for the Halfway to St Patrick’s Day fundraiser.
Adopt on first reading, Ordinance No. 8657, allowing the possession and consumption of alcohol on the 100 block of E 8th Street from 1:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011, for the Halfway to St Patrick’s Day fundraiser.
