6th Street mill and overlay update
The attached memo provides an update on the progress of the 2011 KLINK project (6th Street from Massachusetts to Iowa). The mill and overlay of 6th from Massachusetts to Kentucky is substantially complete, and the project will continue with the overlay on 6th west to Iowa with turn lanes being constructed at Michigan and Maine. Other major upcoming street projects in the area include KDOT work on the Kansas River bridges (reducing traffic to one lane in each direction) and the milling of Tennessee on July 18 then complete closure to all traffic on July 19 for one day for overlay.
City staff to serve on Emergency Management Executive Committee
Jeanette Klamm, Utilities Programs Manager for the Department of Utilities, has been selected to serve on the Douglas County Emergency Management Board Executive Committee. In her role as a part of the committee, she will provide guidance and perspective to the board on emergency preparedness issues. Her term will last for one year from 2011-2012. Shaun Coffey, Division Chief in the Fire Medical Department also serves on the Executive Committee, and various other city staff persons serve on other Emergency Management boards.
