April building permits
The Building Safety Division issued 196 building permits in April and total permit fees assessed for the month were $53,111. There were 14 permits issued for new residential construction in April, all of which were for single-family dwellings. Permits were issued for 29 new residential projects in April last year; 26 for single-family dwellings and three for duplexes. See the attached memo, summary report and full report for more details.
Public Works staff member earns building operator certification
Dale Seele, Senior Maintenance Worker responsible for the Community Health Facility, completed Westar Energy’s Level I Building Operator Certification. The program educates employees responsible for maintenance and operations of large buildings and their complex heating, mechanical and electrical systems on methods of tracking an organization’s electrical systems, HVAC operations and lighting levels and controls, as well as ways to reduce energy costs.
Haskell golf team volunteers at Eagle Bend
Members of the Haskell Indian Nations University golf team volunteered to clean and detail the carts used by patrons at Eagle Bend Golf Course and Learning Center the last week of April. Their service project saved Eagle Bend the time and labor costs associated with cleaning the carts. The seven members of the team volunteered a combined total of 28 hours.
