RE:	House Bill 2088

Attached is a letter staff has drafted concerning House Bill 2088.  The bill prohibits municipalities’ ability to determine appropriate residential fire protection systems and is contrary to cities’ constitutional home rule authority.  The City opposed a similar measure that was introduced in the last legislative session.  Staff requests direction whether to communicate the City’s opposition to the legislation to legislators. 

Action Requested:

Authorize the Mayor to sign the attached letter opposing House Bill 2088, if appropriate.
