2011 Long-Range Planning work program

Planning and Development Services has put together the attached memo describing the long-range planning work program items and staff recommended priorities for 2011.  Staff will implement this work plan, subject to any future City, County or Planning Commission changes or initiatives. 

Ladder 5 production update

The city has received the attached update on the production of the Fire Medical Department’s Ladder 5 by Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. Fabrication of the cab is nearing completion, which is to be followed by painting and fabrication of the pump house structure.

Airport Master Plan online

The Lawrence Municipal Airport (LWC) Master Plan Study is being undertaken to evaluate the airport's capabilities and role, to forecast future aviation demand, and to plan for the timely development of new or expanded facilities that may be required to meet that demand.  The ultimate goal of the master plan is to provide systematic guidelines for the airport's overall maintenance, development, and operation. Charter ordinance regarding arrest powers

On a future agenda, the City Commission will be asked to consider adopting a charter ordinance to make police officers’ power to arrest for misdemeanor offenses consistent for both violations of Kansas statute and municipal code violations. This change would allow law enforcement to more effectively address situations when a city code provision such as the noise ordinance or fire code is repeatedly violated by the same person. Snow removal and ice control preparedness plan

The Public Works Department is prepared for the upcoming winter season. Please see the attached 2010-2011 Snow Removal and Ice Control Preparedness Executive Summary.
