RE:	Property Release for Bus #724

In June 2009 one of our fixed rote buses (#724) caught fire as the result of a catastrophic engine failure. Considering the age of the vehicle and the amount of damage resulting from the fire the bus was deemed a total loss. The Claims Department for MV Transportation used official Bus Blue book references to determine the reimbursable amount that was due to the City of Lawrence. Attached please find the Property Release Form and supporting information resulting from this incident. I have consulted with Mike Bennett, Risk Manager and Steve Stewart, Central Garage Superintendent and both have agreed to settlement amount.

Action Request:

Staff seeks City Commission approval of property release from MV Transportation by authorizing the City Manager’s signature.
