Please include the following item on the City Commission regular agenda for consideration at the November 3, 2009 meeting:
On November 3, 2009 the City Commission will open a public hearing to consider a request by Cindy Suenram and Arch Naramore, 1204 New York, Lawrence, KS 66044, for the vacation of the south 15 ft. of 12th Street right-of-way adjoining the west 75 feet of Lot 142 on New York Street in the City of Lawrence.
The petitioners wish to fence the 1200 New York property/lot a little closer to the sidewalk.
All utilities, as well as city staff, have reviewed this request and have no objections. An email from Black Hills Corporation noted that although they do not have anything in the requested area to be vacated, they do have a line fairly close to the existing right-of-way. Their email as well as a drawing are attached. The owners will need to coordinate with Black Hills Energy and Kansas One-Call System, Inc.
All property owners within 200 feet have also been notified and no objections have been received.
Action Requested: Hold public hearing and, pending discussion, approve order of vacation.
