place the following item on the agenda for consideration at the City Commission
on July 14, 2009.
Approve an amendment
to the agreement between the City and the
Background
Under their current agreement
with the City, the Housing Authority is to receive $13,192 during City budget year 2009, to “develop and implement the
Housing Connection by creating and
maintaining a database to track housing units available and connect individuals
with those units; track case managers with individuals in units; solicit and
grow housing inventory for the vision; and offer technical assistance for
donors of units-leases, contracts, etc.”
The
Housing Authority has requested
that instead of the purposes mentioned above, they be able to use the funds for
rental assistance for homeless families.
To
date, the Housing Authority has not received any of their 2009 funds.
Action Requested
Staff
hereby requests the City Commission approve an amendment
to the agreement between the City and the Lawrence Douglas County Housing
Authority for the Use of City General Funds.
