Authorize City Manager to set a bid date of July 14, 2009 for contractor services to complete emergency sanitary sewer repairs, force main repairs and air relief valves

History:
Through pro-active sanitary sewer maintenance programs such as TV inspection of the collection system, sanitary sewer main defects, collapsed mains, severe pipe fractures and other defects are found by staff and need immediate repair to prevent sanitary sewer overflows and backups into customers home. The department averages 30 repairs annually. The emergency repairs range in price of $3,000 to $14,000 per repair.
Project Status
The Utilities Department has annually requested price quotes from contractors and the contractor submitting the low quote for services is selected to complete emergency sanitary sewer repairs. The current contractor services quote expires August 1, 2009.
Project Funding
Funding for collection system emergency repairs is budgeted in the 2009 Collection System Operations and Maintenance budget, 501-7410-584-2538.
Recommendation Action:
