Attached are the recommendations of the human service budget committee for the 2010 budget.
Background
Each year, the City budget includes funding for a number of outside agencies. These funds come from a variety of sources and are for a variety of services. A Special Alcohol Advisory Board provides recommendations on how to allocate the special alcohol funds, however, no such group exists for general operating funds. In the past, a subcommittee made up of two City Commissioner has reviewed the applications for general funds, and provided recommendations to the full City Commission.
This year, the mayor suggested a new approach. A committee made up of the members of special alcohol advisory board, as well as Commissioner Aron Cromwell, the Director of the United Way of Douglas County, the City Manager, and other city staff, met to review all of the applications for funding for human services.
