Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the May 12, 2009 meeting:
Background. The Douglas County Senior Center is located in the east wing of Fire Station 1, 746 Kentucky. The roof is approximately 20 to 25 years old, exceeding its life by five years. General maintenance of patching and sealing have not been able to prevent leaks which have resulted in interior water damage. A roof analysis performed in 2007 recommended immediate patching with total replacement in one to two years.
Project Details. The 5,500 sq. ft. roof will be stripped to the decking, new flashing installed, masonry coping joints tuck-pointed, a vapor barrier and two layers of insulation installed. The new roof will be a reflective energy saving white roof, two-ply membrane, cold applied, with a 20 year warranty.
Project Funding. Roof replacement will be paid from the Equipment Reserve Account.
Action Requested. Approve recommendation of Complete Roofing Source, LLC (attached) and award Project No. PW0916, City Bid No. B09029, to JB Turner and Son’s Roofing and Sheet Metal in the amount of $77,687.00. The lowest bid for the project did not meet the bid specifications.
