ONE (1) JOHN DEERE MOWER
The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting to purchase a new John Deere mower and 60” blade off the State of Kansas contract. The State contract allows a 23.5% discount off of retail price. The mower, a John Deere 1445 4WD diesel, will be used to mow City parks and ball diamonds.
They would like to trade in a 2005 John Deere 1445 mower with high hours and scheduled for replacement. Mowers are replaced every three to four years due to the high use during mowing season. Rotating the mowers on this schedule prevents expensive repairs. The total purchase price including a $4,000 trade-in will be $17,869.82.
At this time there are no John Deere mowers listed on Gov Deals and one 2004 John Deere mower on ebay. The mower on ebay has less than half the hours of the trade-in mower and has a bid of $2,025.00 at this time.
This purchase was approved in the 2009 budgeting process.
Recommendation Action:
Approve the purchase of a John Deere 1445 mower and blade for Parks and Recreation Department to the John Deere Company for $17,869.82 (Special Recreation Fund)
