RE:	Parks & Recreation Mower Purchase

The Parks & Recreation Department requests Commission approval to replace a park mowing unit. The new John Deere 1445 4WD diesel mower will be purchased using bid prices from the State of Kansas Governmental sales contract. The total purchase price including a $4000 trade-in will be $17869.82.  

The unit being traded is a 2005 model year that has high hours (unit #4507). We need to rotate these mowers every 3-4 years due to the daily use they receive during the mowing season. By keeping this rotation we avoid high dollar repair bills on things like transmissions, engines and mower decks.

This purchase was budgeted in 216 – special recreation fund

Action requested 

Approve a purchase of $17,869.82 to the John Deere Company for a 1445 4WD diesel mower and related attachments.
