RE:	Ordinance 8337

Attached for commission consideration is Ordinance 8337 which sets forth the qualifications for members of the Governing Body of the City of Lawrence.  This ordinance is based upon the language that was in K.S.A. 13-305 and K.S.A. 13-707(b), both of which were repealed by the legislature in 1998.  This ordinance is needed as there are currently no state or City code provisions pertaining to the qualifications for holding office.  The ordinance is similar to municipal code qualifications found in several of our peer communities.
