AT&T Mobility’s Request to Replace or Modify Antennas and Supporting Equipment on the 6th and Kasold Water at 3708 W. 6th St |
AT&T Mobility requests authority to replace or modify antennas, coaxial cable and tower mounted amplifiers on the 6th and Kasold Water at 3708 W. 6th St. In 1998 the City leased space on the 6th and Kasold Water Tower to SMSA, a subsidiary of Southwestern Bell Wireless. New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC d/b/a AT&T Mobility is now the telecommunications company to the original lease. Christopher Becker, at Becker TeleCommunications Services, on behalf of AT&T Mobility, has requested the replacement and modifications to upgrade the antennas and supporting equipment.
The Planning Department reviewed, and administratively approved the new site plan subject to the execution of amendments to the Lease Agreement. See Site Plan Review.
The Utilities Department reviewed AT&T Mobility’s request and structural analysis for the site and determined that the 6th and Kasold Water Tower is structurally adequate for the replacement installations.
Action Requested: Staff requests the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to execute a Second Amendment to Agreement for the Lease of City of Lawrence, Kansas Property. The Second Amendment allows AT&T Mobility to install replacement equipment on the Water Tower and it increases the rent from $1725.00 per month to $2,000.00 per month effective November 1, 2008. See Second Amendment to Agreement for the Lease of City of Lawrence, Kansas Property.
