Fire Medical Department report on emergency incident types

The Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical Department responds to more than just fire and medical emergency calls. The attached chart breaks down the emergency incidents that the department responded to in 2007. Fire incidents are grouped together on the chart. The attached report gives a more detailed accounting of all the incidents.

Trust Funds for Former Farmland Nitrogen Facility

The FI Kansas Remediation Trust reports the balance of the Administrative Trust through April 30, 2008 is $7,081,333 and the balance of the Environmental Remediation Trust is $5,228,712.  The report for the quarter ending July 31, 2008 will be available in mid-August.    

Update on Public Works projects

Project Engineer David Cronin has prepared the attached report on various major Public Works Department projects currently underway around the community, including 19^th and Louisiana reconstruction, Iowa Street mill and overlay, brick reconstruction on Ohio Street and others. 

Additionally, some recent projects of the concrete crew are listed below:

• Base repair in the 1100 block of Louisiana Street
• Advance work for the 2008 Street Maintenance Project
• Curb and Gutter repair / Valley Gutter installation - E. 7^th Street (see photo)
• Curb and Gutter repair - 600 block of Massachusetts
• Street repairs due to undermining of roadway
• 3000 block of Topeka Lane (see photo)
• 3000 block of Yellowstone Drive
• 9^th and Ohio Street handicap ramp (see photo)
• Sidewalk/ramp repair in right-of-way
• 13^th and Pennsylvania Street
• 8^th and Alabama Street
• Replaced asphalt with concrete to prevent shoving of asphalt which had occurred due to heavy truck volumes at Princeton and McDonald (see photos).

Also, Facilities Maintenance Worker Sheila Hurst has been working on the restriping of parking spaces in the Riverfront parking garage (see photos).
