RE: |
Chautauqua use of
right-of-way requests |
The Convention and Visitors
Bureau (CVB) has submitted requests for use of right-of-way permits for events associated with the
Kansas-Nebraska Chautauqua, June 18-22. Chautauqua is a public event with
presentations focusing on particular historical eras. The theme of this year’s
Chautauqua is Bright Dreams, Hard Times:
The CVB requests the closure and use of a portion
of North Park Street (request amended to
include only North Park Street from the alley west to Vermont Street – see
attached map) from 4:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. daily
from June 18-22, and the bagging of three parking meters on the south side of 7th Street near Kentucky
from 6:00 a.m. June 18 through 5:00 p.m. June 22 to allow for the parking of a
trailer.
Use of right-of-way permits are normally processed
administratively, but it has been the practice of the City to obtain City
Commission approval for significant requests in the downtown area.
ACTION: Approve use of right-of-way permits to
the Convention and Visitors Bureau for the closure and use of North Park Street
from 4:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. daily from June 18-22, and the bagging of three
parking meters on the south side of 7th Street near Kentucky Street
from 6:00 a.m. June 18 through 5:00 p.m. June 22 for events associated with the
Kansas-Nebraska Chautauqua.
