RE:	Status of Folks Road Park Parking Lot

On Thursday, May 1, 2008, the Board of Zoning Appeals approved a waiver allowing for a gravel surface parking lot for the Folks Road Park, with the condition that when the road is improved the parking lot will be improved also to the typically required hard surface with curbs and gutters, etc. Final administrative approval of the site plan was completed this week.

All of the necessary design work for the project has been completed. Before construction can begin Westar must raise their lines so that construction equipment can access the area. Now that the site plan has been approved, Westar should be able to complete that work within a few weeks. Public Works will coordinate with Parks and Recreation to complete the construction in June or July, as staff resources allow. Public Works will provide labor and Parks and Recreation will provide materials.
