RE:

Annexation of City Owned Tract: Douglas County Plate No. 800100A

On December 14, 2007, the City acquired a small parcel (3,055 sq. ft) adjacent to a strip of ground south of Interstate 70 that was purchased in 2006 as part of the Pump Station 48 project.  This acquisition provides connectivity for a future hiking/recreation path that will lead to the PS 48 site on North Folks Road, and with the planned greenspace and pedestrian easements to be acquired as part of the West Baldwin Creek project, ultimately connectivity to the South Lawrence Trafficway.  There is an existing recreation path in the Stonegate Subdivisions (see attached map) that can be made part of this system.  Upon annexation of this parcel, the City can proceed with annexing the remainder strip and the remaining portions of the Pump Station 48 site now owned by the City.

Action Requested:

Adopt Ordinance No. 8229 on first reading annexing .07 acres into the corporate limits of the City of Lawrence.
