RE: |
845 Iowa Street (SP-10-67-07 and MS-09-15-07) Ordinance Variance Request |
Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the November 20, 2007 meeting:
Approval of the request by Grob Engineering, acting on behalf for the owner of 845 Iowa Street, for a variance from 19-214B of the code which states that a private sanitary sewer service line shall not be located in a City public right of way for greater than 15 feet. The existing service line for 845 Iowa crosses 9th Street right of way to connect to the public sewer main.
The current request is in response to a change of use for the existing building to a coffee shop. The existing utility service lines will remain. The property owner remains responsible for the maintenance of the private service line from the building to the public sewer main. If private sewer service line maintenance impacts 9th Street, the property owner will be required to meet Public Work’s Street specifications and standards – which may include a traffic control plan, flowable fill for backfill, pavement restoration, and/or boring.
Action Request. Utility Department staff requests approval from the City Commission to grant the requested variances from 19-214 of the code for 845 Iowa Street.
