Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the October 23, 2007 meeting:
Approval of Change Order No. 1 for 2007 Mill & Overlay Program, Phase 1. Total change order amount is $68,968.00.
Project History The first phase of the annual mill & overlay program was awarded to Kansas Heavy Construction by the City Commission on May 8, 2007 for $864,900. The project included milling, full-depth base patching with both asphalt and concrete, new curb & gutter, and a 2-inch asphalt overlay.
Project Details. Change Order No 1 includes the final quantities for most of the bid items required to complete the streets included in the project. The major increase occurred in the full-depth patching materials (both asphalt and concrete) due to the deteriorated condition of the existing underlying pavements. Additional concrete pavement, added to improve drainage through several intersections thus protecting the pavement, was also a significant item.
Project Status. The project is essentially complete with the exception of some minor curb additions to resolve drainage problems for residents, which will be completed shortly.
Project Funding. Additional funding for the project will come from remaining budgeted funds for the overlay program.
Action Request. Public Works staff requests approval of Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $ 68,968.00.
