RE:	New Alcohol Vendor for Get Downtown

Ordinance No. 8152 (authorizing the sale, possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages on September 14, 2007 on East 8^th Street between Massachusetts and New Hampshire Streets between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.) is on the City Commission agenda for second reading on August 28, 2007.

When the ordinance was on for first reading, a staff memo indicated that the alcohol vendor for the event would be Free State Brewing Company. Free State is no longer going to be able to service this event, and the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce will now be the alcohol vendor. The ordinance is not vendor specific (so it can still be on the agenda for second reading) but this memo should serve as notice that the alcohol vendor for Get Downtown is going to the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber of Commerce has also applied for a temporary permit with both the Alcohol Beverage Control Bureau of the Kansas Department of Revenue and our office in order to sell alcoholic beverages at the event.
