Historical trends in assessed valuation
The attached report contains data from the County Appraiser’s office regarding assessed valuation in Lawrence back to 1996 (1999 and 2000 were not available due to a software conversion problem). An overall trend of an increase in the percent of the tax base made up of residential property can be seen over the past ten years. From 1996 to 2006, residential property valuation as a percentage of the tax base increased from 65.69% to 68.59%, while non-residential property valuation as a percentage of the tax base decreased from 34.31% to 31.41%.
Update on mill-and-overlay program
Phase I of the mill and overlay program is underway. See attached list of streets, map and photographs.
Solid Waste cleans up after summer moves
Solid Waste crews have been working hard to clean up the increased loads of garbage that annually accompany the “moving seasons” around the beginning and ending of academic semesters. Please see the attached photos of some of the messes crews have encountered recently.
July building permit report
The attached report contains information regarding building permits issued in July 2007 and year-to-date comparisons with 2006. The report also explains revisions that have been made to some previous building permit reports to more accurately reflect the valuation of public projects.
