City hosts HUD Y’all Come Conference
Community Development Division staff of Neighborhood Resources hosted the annual HUD Y’all Come Conference June 28 and 29 at the Marriott Springhill Suites and Abe and Jakes. The conference is geared toward CDBG and HOME grant recipients, as well as recipients of Supportive Housing and Shelter Plus Care grants from communities in the state of Kansas and western Missouri. Approximately 100 attendees heard Best Practices presentations on Thursday and were treated to a bus tour of Lawrence community development projects, lunch and awards of the Best Practices on Friday. The City was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by Theresa Porter, Director of Community Planning and Development for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. In an email received from Ms. Porter, she said “Thanks again for the wonderful job you did hosting the conference. I’ve heard nothing but positive comments. You and your staff were terrific!” See attached photos of the event.
