Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the June 5, 2007 meeting:
Change Order Number 1 for Crack Sealing Contract. A change order in the amount of $46,640 is proposed in order to add streets to this year’s crack seal program. The total contract amount would be revised to $286,140.
Project History. Bids for the crack seal contract were received on February 20, 2007. The low bid was $239,500 for placement of 225,000 lbs of material. The budget for the program was $300,000.
Proposed Project Details. The proposed change order adds 44,000 lbs of material to the contract. The additional work is primarily on bob Billings Parkway from Wakarusa to the west city limit. This pavement is generally in good condition with the exception of a number of cracks making it an ideal candidate for crack sealing to prolong the pavement life. The remainder of the additional work is extra blocks or cul-de-sacs scattered throughout the areas already included in the original contract. It is more efficient to perform the work now while the contractor is in the area than including these small pieces in future contracts.
Proposed Project Status. The original amount of material has been installed. The additional work will begin immediately.
Project Funding. The costs associated with the proposed change order are within the original project budget. After the change order $13,860, or 4.6% of the original budget, remains.
Action Request. Public Works staff requests approval of the proposed additional funding in the amount of $46,640 for additional crack sealing.
