With the completion of the 2007 budget process, which included approval of $900,000 for debt-financed park renovations/development, staff is prepared to proceeds as follows:
1.
Project is ready to bid (restroom and shelter replacements) per the updated park plan. We would like to have this project completed to accommodate shelter reservations spring, 2007. A bid opening date later in August is anticipated.
2.
Burrough’s
Creek Rail Trail Design
Although unsuccessful in receiving KDOT funding for this project, we have discussed moving ahead with a request for proposal to design and locate the trail within this greenbelt corridor. Accordingly we request authorization to put out an RFP for this design service.
3.
Sesquicentennial
Point
Final plans and specifications for this Corp of Engineers approved project should be completed in September and we anticipate bidding this project for the plaza and roadway in early October. The Sesquicentennial Commission raised over $213,000 in contributions for this plaza project and we would use city funds for the roadway.

organization to set a public meeting in September to gather more input for the

We have projected expanding the skatepark to include a “bowl” type feature. We would begin discussion with interest groups for design and improvements early in 2007.
