RE:

June 13, 2006 City Commission Agenda

Please include the following item on the City Commission consent agenda for consideration at the June 13, 2006 meeting.

Approve the bid # 06029 from Mayer Specialty Services, LLC for the 2006 Manhole Rehabilitation Project

History:

Part of the Utilities Department’s efforts at Inflow/Infiltration (I/I) reduction is to rehabilitate existing sanitary sewer manholes that are a source of I/I. The manholes are rehabilitated by repairing defects and then spraying on a fiber reinforced cementitious mortar. The rehabilitation process will provide a monolithic liner capable of stopping I & I and restoring structural integrity.

The Utilities Department has a multi-year plan to repair/rehabilitate manholes in older sections of the City.  Manholes are selected for rehab on the basis of several factors.  These factors include:

·         Manhole age

·         Manhole material

·         Known defects based on maintenance and inspection records

·         Presence of defects that may contribute inflow/infiltration

·         Line segments that are in the CIPP Project Area

On June 5, 2006 bids were opened for the 2006 Manhole Rehabilitation program.  The vendors also bid on costs for 2nd and 3rd year contract renewal.  Six vendors bid on the project and the results are shown below.
