Surface Street Management Roles and Responsibilities

Stakeholder	Role and Responsibility
City of Lawrence Public Works	Provide traffic control during events, maintenance and construction.
	Provide speed monitoring on city owned roadways
	Coordinate traffic information with the KDOT, KTA and other regional agencies.
	Provide road closures on city owned roadways for flooding and winter weather.
	Provide traffic information to travelers through DMS.
	Provide signal preemption for emergency vehicles.
	Operate traffic signal systems within the City.
	Operate network surveillance equipment including CCTV cameras and vehicle detection on roadways within the City to facilitate traffic signal operations.
Douglas County Public Works	Provide traffic control during events, maintenance and construction.

Local Cities	Provide traffic control during events, maintenance and construction.
