Freeway Management Roles and Responsibilities

Stakeholder	Role and Responsibility
Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT)	Coordinate and share freeway information with other regional stakeholders.
	Coordinate traffic information with the City of Lawrence, KC Scout and KTA.
	Provide construction and traffic information reports to regional and private information service providers, as well as the Kansas 511 system.
Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA)	Coordinate and share freeway information with other regional stakeholders.
	Coordinate traffic information with the City of Lawrence. KC Scout and KDOT.
	Provide construction and traffic information reports to regional and private information service providers, as well as the Kansas 511 system.
	Collect tolls from agency toll plazas.
	Operate DMS and HAR for the distribution of traffic information and roadway conditions to travelers on the roadway.
	Operate network surveillance equipment including CCTV cameras and vehicle detection on the turnpike.
KC Scout	Operate DMS and cameras on highways in the L-DC region.
	Coordinate and share freeway information with other regional stakeholders.
