Authorize the publication of a Request for Interest for possible secondary uses for the Santa Fe Station (Amtrak station) located at 413 E. 7th Street. |

Executive Summary: |
In January 2019, the City Commission expressed general interest in seeking proposals and ideas for possible secondary uses for the Santa Fe Station facility. As outlined in the RFI, there are potentially several agreements that would require modification, depending upon the potential secondary use terms. One of these agreements in the agreement between the City and State of Kansas related to the federal grant funding of the station. The agreement requires any change of use beyond Amtrak and BNSF to be approved by the Kansas Secretary of Transportation, with concurrence from the Federal Highway Administration. Also, any lease revenue from a secondary use would need to be put back into the building for maintenance.
Obviously, numerous details would need to be worked out. The purpose of this RFI is to see what general interest may exist and the City could determine which to pursue further.
