Proclamation

Lawrence, Kansas

WHEREAS:       The City of Lawrence continues to explore ways to manage residential consumption of water and power, and to inspire its residents to care for our natural resources; and

WHEREAS:       Cities can engage in efforts to inspire their own communities, as well as their neighboring cities, to become better environmental stewards; and

WHEREAS:       The eighth annual Wyland National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation is a landmark nonprofit campaign encouraging people from all walks of life to conserve water and other natural resources to help ensure a sustainable future for our communities.; and

WHEREAS:       From April 1-30, 2019, the City of Lawrence wishes to inspire its residents to take the Wyland National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation by making an online pledge at mywaterpledge.com to reduce their impact on the environment and see immediate savings in their water and electricity bills.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Lisa Larsen, Mayor of the City of Lawrence, Kansas, do hereby proclaim the month of April, 2019 for the

“NATIONAL MAYOR’S CHALLENGE FOR WATER CONSERVATION”

and encourage the citizens of Lawrence to participate.
