Adopt on first reading Ordinance No. 9660, allowing the sale, possession and consumption of alcohol on the public right-of-way in the 1300 block of W. 7th Street between Michigan Street and Arkansas Street on Saturday, April 13, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to 7 p.m., associated with the Louise’s West Reunion Event.

Executive Summary: |
Louisa’s West have requested permission for the sale, possession and consumption of alcohol associated with the 2019 reunion event in the 1300 Block of W. 7th Street during their event.
The sale, possession and consumption of alcohol on the right-of-way is generally prohibited, unless the City Commission adopts an ordinance exempting an area from that prohibition. The attached Ordinance No. 9660 would temporarily allow the sale, possession and consumption of alcohol in the 1300 block of W. 7th Street, on Saturday, April 13, 2019 during the event.
In addition, Police, Parks and Recreation, Municipal Services and Operations, Fire/Medical, Lawrence Transit, Downtown Lawrence, Inc., Lawrence Association of Neighborhoods and Explore Lawrence have reviewed this request.
