Dear [Board Chair and Key Staff Member],

The City of Lawrence appreciates representation on your board through our city appointee(s).  As you may be aware, a key strategic initiative of the City of Lawrence within our adopted Strategic Plan is a review and streamlining of advisory boards and committees.  Additionally, transparency to the public is of interest to the City of Lawrence.

In our review of boards to which the City makes appointments, we noted that your board does not publicly provide website access to at least one of the following:  board/committee roster of members, agendas/meeting materials, and minutes.  The City would like to encourage all boards to consider making these materials publicly available on its website to enable public access and review.  Should you add this to your website, we request that you inform us so that we can link to these materials from the City’s website.  This communication can be directed to Bobbie Walthall, Administrative Assistant in the City Manager’s Office at bjwalthall@lawrenceks.org.
