Approve purchase of two (2) emergency standby generators for water treatment plant operations from Foley equipment utilizing the Sourcewell cooperative contract, in the amount of $392,319.16 ($196,159.58 each), as part of the 2019 CIP (CIP#s UT9900 and UT9901) schedule. |

Executive Summary: |
Utility plant operations staff reviewed multiple options to address backup power generations for the Clinton and Kaw water treatment facilities. Mobile generation was considered to address both plants. When reviewing mobile vs. stationary generation, the clear operational advantages and cost savings were clearly identified in stationary solutions. Power requirements were evaluated for the right sizing and application. Site reviews were conducted as well as vendor warranty solutions. Cooperative contract pricing was reviewed and determined the best solution for suppling backup power generation for critical infrastructure needs. MSO Utility staff recommends moving forward with emergency generation solutions to provide uninterrupted service for water treatment operations.
