Recommendations/Options/Action Requested:

Revise Vendor and Bid Price for Aluminum Sulfate in awarded Bid No. B1848, to Chemtrade  for $0.3345 / lb, for 2019 Water and Wastewater Chemical Program.

Executive Summary:

Bid No. B1848 lists the recommended vendors that provide chemicals as part of the 2019 Water and Wastewater Chemical Program. Bid No. B1848 was awarded at the City Commission meeting on December 4, 2018. After the bid was awarded, City Staff was notified by the approved vendor for Aluminum Sulfate, Brenntag, that they will not be able to provide this chemical and therefore are withdrawing their 2019 bid for Aluminum Sulfate. Chemtrade was the next lowest bidder and the only other vendor that submitted a responsive bid for Aluminum Sulfate. Staff recommends awarding the bid to Chemtrade. This will change the city’s cost from Brenntag’s bid of $0.330 per pound to Chemtrade’s bid of $0.3345 per pound.

Changing the vendor changes the city’s Aluminum Sulfate cost from $0.330 per pound to $0.3345 per pound. This change does not alter the budgeted fiscal impact of the 2019 Water and Wastewater Chemical Program, which is still $1,860,000.
