2019 Comprehensive Street Maintenance Program – City Manager’s Report |
Project Background/ Program Map
In August 2018, the City commission approved approximately $3.69 million to be utilized for the overall 2019 Contracted Street Maintenance Program which includes $400,000 from the Curb and Gutter Rehabilitation Program and $100,000 from the Contract Milling for In House Pavement Rehab. Contracted milling, patching, asphalt overlay, and curb and gutter rehabilitation are planned for 2019 as reflected on the attached “Comprehensive Program” map.
The map also shows streets identified for maintenance work such as crack sealing areas and internal street maintenance project locations that include concrete and asphalt rehabilitation work. Significant project locations such as Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) projects are also shown on the map.
Staff recommendations as presented at Transportation Commission
Annually, staff reviews the potential impact of the planned contracted street maintenance work with existing and planned bikeway facilities. Other CIP projects shown on the program map have gone through the design process for inclusion of appropriate bikeway facilities.
The program map was presented to the Transportation Commission at the February 4, 2019 meeting.
Staff reviewed the existing bike plan and recommended installing shared lane markings (sharrows) on the planned bikeway network. These are the following streets with 2019 contracted maintenance and the staff recommended bikeway improvement to be included:
