MSO Update
The Municipal Services and Operations (MSO) Department continues to pursue consolidation of work groups comprising the former Public Works and Utilities departments. Merger of these operations began in earnest with the hiring of Dave Wagner as MSO Department Director on September 2, 2018. Following his appointment, Wagner set about forming the department management team. Since September, extensive effort has gone into forming the department’s new organizational structure. The formation of new work groups has aligned with the recommendations contained in the staff report presented during the April 10, 2018 Commission meeting (Work Session agenda item #3). The attached functional organization chart provides an overview of the current structure of the MSO management team and its scope of responsibilities. While consolidation efforts are ongoing, the new organizational structure has already enabled many positive outcomes. This memo provides a brief informational overview and staff expects a more comprehensive update at a future Commission meeting.
