Executive Summary: |
Fire Station No. 1 Contracts and Agreements Fire Station No. 1, which also houses the Senior Resource Center for Douglas County (SRC), is in the process of being renovated. On October 18, 2016, the City Commission approved a letter outlining the cost sharing for Fire Station No. 1. The conclusion of that letter indicated that the City would return with a formalized contract using the terms outlined in the letter. The City prepared the contract based on the terms outlined in the approved letter. On November 7, 2017, the City Commission authorized the City Manager to sign the funding contract.
Several modifications to the original design of the remodel project were required at the direction of the State Historical Preservation Office (SHPO). The lawsuit filed by one of the bidders that was resolved in the City’s favor and design changes have caused delays in the project since the project bid was awarded in December 12, 2017. City staff has received information from contractor indicating several change orders necessary for the project as a result of the delays and redesign. The delay and funding increase required the funding contract to be updated to reflect those changes.
